Few things go wrong as quietly as a draft that gets treated as final. A DRAFT stamp on every page prevents it, whether it's a contract under negotiation, a report out for review or a proposal still being priced.
Recommended settings
- All pages, low opacity (20–35%), large and diagonal. The classic watermark look: unmistakable, but the text underneath stays readable.
- Add a version in the reference field, for example "v3 – 20 Oct", so reviewers comment on the right version.
- Use a neutral colour like purple, blue or grey. Red suggests a problem rather than "work in progress".
Workflow tip
Keep the unstamped master in your editor. Export it to PDF, stamp it DRAFT, then send. When it's final, export again and send it clean, or stamp it FINAL if your process needs that.
